What does Kasasa mean?
Kasasa! Funny word. What does it mean?
We made it up over a decade ago to achieve our mission of helping community financial institutions — think small banks and credit unions — offer world-class products and services to compete with megabanks. We came up with Kasasa because it’s a unique and original word into which we have been able to infuse our own meaning. It works as both a noun and a verb. It’s catchy and fun to say. It’s completely unrelated to any other banking term, letting us break through the clutter.
Kasasa has meant many things to many people over the years. These days, though, we’ve started giving this word a new working definition: Kasasa means more.
Kasasa means more rewards, fewer fees
This is one thing Kasasa has signified for a long time. We have become known for our world-class checking account products, including Kasasa Cash® and Kasasa Cash Back®. Both accounts are free to open and come with no monthly maintenance fee.
Kasasa Cash offers a high annual percentage yield (the amount of money you get back in interest, in other words). If you want some extra cash every month to make life a little easier, to treat yourself to something special, or just watch your account balance grow, this is the account for you.
When you spend money with your credit or debit card, it benefits the provider. They make money with every swipe. Why shouldn’t you get a piece of that for choosing to use your bank or credit union’s debit card? It helps them, and it helps you.
That's the idea behind the Kasasa Cash Back account. You get rewarded in cash back when you make debit card purchases, plus a few other simple banking basics. If you’re the type to use your debit card for most online and in-person payments, this product might be more your speed.
How you get rewarded is up to you, but every Kasasa checking account gives you refunds on nationwide ATM withdrawal fees* on top of the reward you choose. Here are three numbers to back up what we’re saying:
-
3 million+ accounts opened across the U.S.
-
$2.7 billion+ in rewards given back (and counting)
-
$0 in monthly maintenance fee + ATM withdrawal fee refunds nationwide*
Kasasa means more support for communities nationwide
A Kasasa account is free checking you can feel good about. What do we mean by that?
Kasasa strives to transform the lives of millions of people by providing consumers with financial products that take their best interests to heart, offered in partnership with community-based institutions that do the same. Not only is every dollar you deposit into your Kasasa account a smart move for your money — it’s a vote of confidence in your local community.
Kasasa believes that local banking is the economic bedrock of every community. For this cycle to strengthen and support your community, we all must support local businesses, including local banks and credit unions. If sustainability is something you value, it's an easy choice to move your money where it matters: bank local, just as you might prefer to shop or eat local. We partner exclusively with community financial institutions to ensure that there’s a deeper level of value created when you use Kasasa banking products.
Kasasa means more than just checking
We’re not even talking about the Kasasa Loan® (the only loan with Take-Backs™) or Kasasa Care (our portal to simplified health insurance, identity protection, and more). In a deeper sense, Kasasa means your investment in the future.
This is where you plant a seed and watch it grow. Where you work smart and your dedication is rewarded. Where you put your funds as well as your trust.
But it’s not all about the money. It’s about what it means for you, your family and friends, your community. It’s about the power to build a better world around you — and the financial tools to get it done.
Be proud of your money. Choose a community bank or credit union that wants the same.
